Sports.ru series of mobile apps
Sports.ru is one of CleverPumpkin’s startup projects, which began the development of mobile applications for the media. The first version of the program consisted of a news feed, web content and a few simple add-ons. Now it is the flagship application for sports fans. It combines the functions of media, social network and includes more than two hundred thematic subsidiary apps about clubs, athletes and competitions.

A partnership of record duration
The history of cooperation between Sports.ru and CleverPumpkin began in January 2012. Since then, the team has never stopped working on the project for a single day. Our productive partnership breaks records in terms of the duration of custom mobile app development in the IT sphere in Russia. Every year the Sports.ru app becomes more and more convenient and functional.

Initial data
Initially, the application was created as an online platform for soccer fans. At the first stage, it was an online version of the media, where topical news and articles were published.

Aims and Objectives
We were not going to stop at the basic functionality and were constantly improving the product. We had to take into account the preferences of fans of all kinds of sports: soccer, hockey, biathlon, tennis, Formula 1 and many others. It is important that everyone can express their opinion and discuss the latest events in the world of sports with like-minded people.

Solution
The platform was gradually supplemented with new functions: viewing statistics, listening to podcasts, betting on the result of the competition.
The project used an unbundling strategy so that sports fans could read and discuss not everything, but only what they are interested in. Such development of applications for online media implies the division of all content into micro-topics. Each sports club on the platform has its own mini-site, each athlete has his own page. There are separate streams in social networks and bots in messengers. The intuitive interface allows you to go straight to the desired section.

Result
Today, Sports.ru is not just a mobile media application. It is a unified code base that contains more than 200 different services. Its audience exceeds more than 2 million users. Sports.ru on Android has several times been named the app of the year by Google Russia.
Onboarding
Set up notifications of important events by sport, selected tags and match results. Authorize via social networks, Google account or e-mail and comment on entries, write posts, rate other users' entries. Add your favorite topics for your news feed, broken down into more detailed queries and subcategories.
Team
Be the first to know news about your favorite team’s players, future transfers, planned matches. Follow the statistics of personal meetings and individual players by any criteria: totals, corner kicks, cards, line-ups, forecasts and analytics.

The match center includes a module with online broadcasts, dynamic division table, match statistics, and game predictions. Share events on social networks and integrate them with the calendar. In the additional statistics block you can find current championship tables, calendars and data on national and international leagues

Build system
To ensure that the benchmarks are always up-to-date, they need to be regularly updated in the app stores. Doing this manually is very labor-intensive, so we automated this process and created a build system to build all applications simultaneously. It allows us to automatically maintain the modern features of the entire family in line with the functionality of the Sports.ru flagship and upload updated applications to the store
